Medical Training Courses

We have staff trained through the American Heart Association and The American Red Cross.  Courses can be scheduled at our Training Facility located at 667 Main Street in Watertown, or we could come to you.  Prices can be flexible and group discounts are available for all of our classes.  We are flexible to get our life saving training to the people that need it and our goal is to do all that we can to help get you certified to save a life!

First Aid Children

EMERGENCY SITUATION TRAINING FOR OUR CHILDREN

This course is an original Prepare To Act certification program that prepares our children that not only have responsibility to protect themselves, but, may also be in a position to watch younger brothers and sisters or are actively involved in babysitting.  The four hour course covers initial CPR/Choking and 1st Aid as well as utilizing the emergency 911 system, what to do in emergency situation and focuses on confidence building and self-preservation.  The course is taught by trained professional in the law enforcement and emergency medical field as well as present day 911 operators and dispatchers.  This course is part of a Prepare To Act continuing education program.

Obtaining First Aid and CPR/AED certification is important if:

  • First Aid and CPR/AED training is required for your work
  • You are a designated emergency responder at your work
  • You want to be prepared for a wide range of emergencies – either in your personal life or based on your participation in activities such as coaching, youth organizations, and others
  • You want the confidence of skills and experience when caring for young children or family members.

 

EMT Training

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT)

This course prepares students for the Connecticut State Certified EMT initial examination and provides them with entry-level skills needed to work as an EMT.  The course is also useful for Police and Fire Department personnel, ski patrol members and other emergency personnel.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
PLEASE NOTE:  The EMT course is challenging and it requires a high degree of commitment in order for a student to successfully complete the course.  It requires approximately 160 hours of course instruction that includes classroom and emergency patient contact at area Emergency rooms and Ambulance services.
Our EMT courses take between two to four months depending on our course schedule and costs $825.

HEARTSAVER FIRST AID / CPR / AED

This course is for anyone, ages 12 and older, with limited or no medical training who is interested in obtaining a 2 year certification with the American Heart Association. 
This is a full day, classroom, video based, instructor lead course that teaches critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.

CPR

HEARTSAVER CPR / AED

This course is for anyone, ages 12 and older, with limited or no medical training who is interested in obtaining a 2 year certification with the American Heart Association. 
This is a 3 to 4 hour classroom, video-based and hands on instructor lead course that teaches the following:

  • Adult CPR/AED and Choking
  • Child CPR/AED and Choking
  • Infant CPR and Choking

Infant CPR

HEARTSAVER PEDIATRIC FIRST AID

This is a classroom based, instructor and video lead course with practical skills conducted throughout.  It’s designed to meet the regulatory and credentialed training requirements for child care workers, teachers, Foster care workers, camp counselors, youth group leaders, coaches and others responsible for children in all 50 States.  This course teaches Basic First Aid, CPR and AED skills for children such as:

  • What to do when a child or infant has a breathing problem
  • Giving compressions and breaths to an infant or child
  • Stopping bleeding that can be seen

EMT

BLS FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

This course is for healthcare providers who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
Our initial provider course requires approximately 4 to 5 hours to complete which includes skills practice and skills testing.  A renewal course requires approximately 4 hours, including skills practice and skills testing.    The course includes the following:

  • Critical concepts of high-quality CPR
  • The American Heart Association Chain of Survival
  • 1 and 2 Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
  • Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques
  • Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
  • Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant
  • Relief of choking for adult, child and infant
  • CPR with an advanced airway

PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS)

This course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children.  These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course certification card for your job or other requirements. 
This classroom, video-based, instructor led course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics.  The goal of the PALS course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY ASSESSMENT RECOGNITION AND STABILIZATION (PEARS)

This course if for healthcare providers such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), medical and surgical nurses, school nurses and any other healthcare provider who infrequently sees critically ill infants and children. 
PEARS teaches providers how to recognize respiratory distress, shock and cardiac arrest, and provide appropriate lifesaving interventions within the initial minutes of response until the child is transferred to an advance life support provider.  The goal of PEARS is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes.
